PAOLO PALIMODDE

Paolo is not only an Interpretative Guide but also a member Tourist Guide of the women and men’s Cooperative of Oliena, S’Enis.

Together with other guides, Paolo leads guests on archaeological excursions, describing stone by stone the archaeological site of Sa Sedda è Sos Carros and its caves, Tiscali village and all the smells and essences of the valley of Lanahita. He has taken part in the excavations of many Nuragic sites in the surrounding areas, working alongside the department of archaeology of the University of Cagliari.

All excursions depart from Monte Maccione Hotel, which immersed in a centuries-old oak forest, is situated 800mt up Monte Corrasi in Oliena. A place where we set off on many hikes to the legendary places of Supramonte.

Monte Corrasi, which peaks at 1,463 metres, is the highest mountain in the Supramonte range. It’s characterised by a rocky environment full of karst plains, rugged fields, caves, chasms and the strangest looking peaks and pinnacles.

More than 650 botanical species have been recorded in its woods. This richness and variety make Corrasi a hugely significant environment and is included in the Italian Botanical Society in the census of biotopes of significant vegetational interest, worthy of protection and conservation.

It’s a place of nature, in a fascinating position, simple and welcoming, perfect for those who love the environment, enjoy company, archaeology, traditions and good food.
