Keya is a Sardinian word that denotes a cave, a valley/haven below the rock, a small valley enclosed between the mountains. In 1994, a group of Sardinian speleologists joined by their passion for outdoor activities and Sardinian nature created the Keya society.
The varying composition of the different soils means that Sardinian has an equally diverse biodiversity rich in wildlife, culture and history. Keya offers the chance to understand and appreciate all of these aspects, above all through walking trips in small groups. Our motto is, therefore, “Walking, the oldest way to travel”
Keya is a strong supporter of sustainable tourism and this has led the way to different collaborations with international tour operators who are aware of this aspect and are certified by world organisations. All these factors have also made our guests our best business card.
Keya operates all over Sardinia and due to our mild climate even throughout the year. Besides classic hiking tours, there are a range of valid alternatives, other than the typical seaside and seasonal tourism, included in excursion days, moments devoted to the agro-pastoralism, crafts, festivals, celebrations (Carnival, Easter, etc.), traditional cuisine, (pane carasau, traditional sweets, pasta, cheeses, wines, etc.) and archaeology.
Keya organises excursions for small groups, completely respecting the places that are crossed and the people who live there, allowing the possibility to learn about all the different sides of it in complete harmony.
Besides treks, our offer also encompasses speleology, canyoning and sea kayaking. Keya is also active in the field of Environmental Education and Sustainable Development. It collaborates with private and public bodies in designing and creating specific projects across all the regional area.
Keya also creates tailor-made, package excursions for small groups, including stays in family-run properties, even for several days, across all the territory, for private groups and international and national tour operators. Furthermore, it’s able to organise and/or collaborate with the creation of incentive and educational trips and cultural and study trips.
All Keya’s guides are Interpretive Nature Guides recognised by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and/or by other European organisations, able to communicate in the main European languages and experts on Sardinian culture and its territory.
