On the slopes of Monte Corrasi, in the limestone heart of Sardinia, belonging to the Giuliana Puligheddu farm there are fifteen hectares of connecting vineyards and olive groves destined for the production of superb extra virgin olive oil.
The different types of olives are “Nera di Oliena” and “Bosana”, which are grown following the principles of organic farming.
It was Giuliana’s grandfather who introduced wild olives into their terrain with a cultivar that came from the olive groves that the Jesuit priests of St.Ignazio of Loyola introduced in the 17th century at Fala and Noid, a place on the western outskirts of the village,
Guiliana has managed the farm since 2003. She has established new olive groves, renewed the vineyards and started bottling organic extra virgin oil in search of excellence, which means obtaining an oil that reproduces all of the best aromas of the olives from our land.
We believe that extra virgin olive oil is fresh fruit juice and that all the aromas of olives when perfectly ripe should be found in the products obtained from them.
Because of this, everything is taken care of in the smallest of details: harvesting the olives in a way to maintain the whole fruit; immediate pressing on a continuous cycle and at a controlled temperature; conservation in steel tanks under nitrogen; bottling in dark glass.
For our oil, we chose an old name that olive oil used to have in the Sardinian language, “Ghermanu”, which means sincere, pure, genuine and comes from the Spanish word hermano. As such it could be distinguished from animal oils and pistacia lentiscus berry oil.
Our oil is characterised by intense olive fruitiness, with herbaceous hints of wild artichoke, floral notes and fresh almonds. On the palate, it is bitter and spicy, all in perfect harmony.
It’s perfect to eat drizzled over seafood dishes or meat dishes to enhance its quality and aroma.
