Bolotana Marghine

Villa Piercy

Villa Piercy stands only a few miles distant from the centre of Bolotana in the direction of the motorway SS131, the main communication road of the island. The historical residence is an amazing example of the XIX century style architecture which was built by the British engineer Benjamin Piercy. Lord Piercy was required in Sardinia to design the project of the new railway. The villa develops for three levels with the ground floor embroidered by frescos in the vault ceilings. The typical English style garden extends for 4 hectares around the residence. It is made by several botanic species collected by the engineer during its journeys around the world. In its property Piercy built a modern farm: particularly the cheese factory was equipped with innovative installation and its products were brought to Cagliari thanks to the use of the railway. At a short distance from the villa is still visible the little community village where the farmers lived which also counted a school.
