Birori Marghine

The nuraghes Miuddu and Arbu

Nuraghe Miuddu located in the municipality area of Birori next to the border with Bortigali area, holds a complex structure made by a central tower nestled into a three-foiled bastion. Currently its height is only visible for 5 metres. The entrance to the central building is possible only through the stairs opening on the ground floor. In fact the original entrance is covered by the monument's collapsed boulders. The central chamber has the typical tholos cover made by concentric circles The room also hosts 3 niches, which differs one from the other. the one on the left side has ogival shape whereas the one on the front presents a gateway connecting it to a curvilinear corridor about 9 metres long; the third one is made by 2 rooms partially collapsed. In one of the chambers, a “bottle shaped” well opens deepening for 2 metres. The well ismade by small stone blocks. In the Birori area there is also the nurage Arbu, a proto nuraghe whose construction dates back prior to the classic nuragic era.
