There are numerous caves in the Siniscola area, most of them are situated on the slopes of Monte Albo, each with their own history and characteristics. What makes them peculiar are the tales of hypothetical stories that took place inside these caves, some true stories that tell the life of our ancestors, others enriched with fictional nuances because of the narratives of the population of Siniscola, which increase the interest and suggestiveness of these places. Starting from Sa Conca de Elene Portiche, accessbile after a trek of about an hour, where it is said that a woman lost her life when she went there to give birth after being thrown out of the house because of the unknown father of her unborn child, or the Gana 'e Gortoe cave, which was used during the Second World War by the inhabitants as a shelter from the aerial bombardment and where a stream flows.
It is not known exactly where it comes from, but in ancient times people washed their clothes in it and collected its water to drink, water jugs have been found that date back to the Etruscans. Another really characteristic cave is the Sa Conca de Locòli, in which a large quantity of water emerges during the rainy season. It is known that this cave extends for kilometres up the mountain, but it has only been partially explored as it is not possible to go beyond a certain point. Finally, the Sa Prejone ‘e ‘Orcu cave is worth mentioning. It is extremely important from an archaeological point of view, as it was used as a burial place in the Nuragic age, and there is still a stone staircase dating back to the Nuragic era that is still intact.
