Supramonte is an ancient mountain complex, which frames the highest and 'youngest' massif of Gennargentu. The mouflon and the beautiful pink peony lives in these meadows undisturbed. On the Orgosolo side of Supramonte Su Suercone, the largest sinkhole in Sardinia can be found, which is the result of the sinking of a karst vault in the heart of the calcareous plateau of Supramonte of Orgosolo, which can be reached from various points through long trekking routes. The territory of Orgosolo also includes the Montes Forest, which is home to a centuries-old holm-oak forest, and the natural monument of Monte Novo San Giovanni - accessible by a possibly prehistoric path - which has spires up to 70 metres high, where some exclusive endemic floral rarities grow.
