Su Presoneddu holy wells

In the area of Cardedu, on the slopes of Arista Mount in the area of Is Cuguddadas, stands the holy well of Su Presoneddu. The name derives from the local tradition according to which the monument had been previously used in past centuries as a prison. The well is immersed in the thick vegetation and is still well preserved. It is possible to distinguish the sidewall of the atrium higher than one metre and the stairs at the entrance connecting this space at the well cellar: this last one is perfectly preserved. The stairs descends to the ground floor and it’s surrounded by the typical stepped ceilings. The paintings are of great interest and the site was certainly related to the water worship cult.
