Sa Crabarissa rock

An astonishing granite block 40 metres higher and easily reachable from the centre of Austis. Carved by the atmospheric agents, its shape reminds that of a woman dressed in the traditional garments of Cabras, a village in the western coast of Sardinia. There is an ancient legend related to rocks: it narrates of a young girl from Cabras that fell in love with a shepherd from Austis met during transhumance waiting for him to come back in vain. Getting to his village to look for him she found out he was already married to another woman. Crossing the plain, deeply shocked from the news and the grief, she was petrified forever.
