The rural church of Saint Basil was built by Basilian monks who stayed and lived there until they were expelled from Ollolai. Later it became the residence of the Franciscan monks and in 1925 some works were done to improve the structure, modifying part of the original architecture that however, even after the restoration, remains very simple as it is typical for Sardinian rural churches.
In 2006 the excavations also began, which, finished in 2008, brought to light new information about the place where the church stands, emerged the remains of an ancient structure and an ancient fountain of an old Franciscan convent from the fifteenth century.
