Sorgono Mandrolisai

Reserve of Santu Luisu

The Reserve of Santu Luisu is a place with coniferous, holm oak, oak, chestnut and hazelnut forests and Mediterranean scrub, populated by mouflon, deer, fallow deer and flown over by golden eagles and peregrine falcons. The territory offers granite mountain landscapes sculpted by the wind and picturesque views of the Iscalas plateau, Serra Longa and the forests of Monte Littu and Uatzo, crossed by hiking trails and the Trenino Verde railway, which has its terminus in the village. Around 50 springs in the rocky walls of the area gush out 'healthy' water: the springs of Perda 'e Mantza and Erriu de Sauccu stand out. The mountains alternate with smooth hills cultivated with cereals and Cannonau, Monica and Bovale vines, from which Mandrolisai derives.
