The neoclassical parochial church located in Orune is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is known as the church of Santa Maria Maggiore o della Neve. The facility, which can be reached from a beautiful square decorated with a rose window, is situated in the historic centre of the village and is known throughout Barbagia for its beautiful murals, which have earned it the nickname "Sistine of Barbagia". The church was built in the mid-1800s and later it was enriched with murals by the Cagliari painter Antonio Caboni, who painted the vault and nave of the church.
