Parish church of Santa Maria degli Angeli

The parish church of Santa Maria degli Angeli (Saint Mary of the Angels )is located at the centre of the village of Bortigali, next to the churches of Rosario and Saint Palmerio. made up with local pink trachyte was built in the XVI century and despite the renovations the Late Gothic shapes typical of the worship monuments in North Sardinia. The pinnacle facade has got simple lines and it’s embellished with a monumental portal which reminds those of the local dwellings in the historical centre. The interior of the church is made by a single nave with 5 aisles.

On each side there are 4 chapels. The paintings date back to the first half of the XVI century and have been entitled to the famous anonymous painter known as Maestro di Ozieri and his workshop. The subjects painted are those of the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Magi adoration and the Assumption.
