As silent witnesses of a rich charming past, the Unturgiadore nuragic archaeological complex together with the site of Sa ‘e Cortocce, Sa Tanca and the Ruinas village are the remains of a human presence in the area from antiquity probably thanks to its natural richness. Located above 1000 metres on the Gennargentu mountain, the Ruinas village is one of the highest in Sardinia. It developed around the afternamed nuraghe and was inhabited until the medieval age when, according to the tradition, the population was wiped out because of the plague. The survivors moved to Arzana and were reported to have light skin, blue eyes and blond-red hairs.
