Starting with the masks of Mamoiada, the museum offers a comparative exhibition of findings from different Mediterranean countries, highlighting their similarities and proximity rather than their differences and distances. The Museum of Mediterranean Masks currently consists of three rooms: the Multivisual Room, the Barbaricino Carnival Room and the Mediterranean Room.
The multivisual room consists of three dark panels on which images of strong emotional impact on the Mamuthones and Issohadores are projected, proficiently commented by Bachisio Bandinu. In the Barbaricino Carnival room, the masks of Mamoiada (Mamuthones and Issohadores), Ottana (Boes, Merdules and Filonzana) and Orotelli (Thurpos) are displayed in a more traditional and instructive manner. In the Mediterranean room, Carnivals from three areas are represented: the Alpine arc, the Iberian peninsula and the Balkan peninsula.
