The history of the Gadoni copper deposit was already known in Nuragic times. Copper was mined here, which was used by the ancient Sardinian people to shape everyday objects and votive offerings. Funtana raminosa is one of the biggest copper deposits in Europe and is part of the large Geomining Park of Sardinia. As it was in operation until 1983, the mine is an open-air museum above and below ground. You can admire functioning machineries from the 20th century and discover the history of the 150 tunnels dug over the centuries by Nuragic, Punic, Roman and Saracen people.
