The Fava Castle has dominated the town of Posada being perched on a cliff since the 13th century. Probably it was a tourist residence ante litteram of the judges (the princes of medieval Sardinia) including the famous Eleonora d'Arborea. From the top of Posada Castle, there is a splendid panorama of the highlight of the Baronia region. Posada is one of the oldest Sardinian centres, and the discovery of a figurine of Hercules suggests that it may have been an Italic-Etruscan settlement.
