The Eugenio Tavolara Museum pays tribute to the ancient traditional weaving of Sarule, which still produces the valuable "sa burra" carpets expertly made by local craftswomen using a vertical loom. It is an extremely valuable product that uses natural raw materials such as sheep's wool and, in some cases, dyes made from local herbs, just like in the ancient times. According to tradition, "sa burra" was given by Barbaric mothers to their eldest son on the occasion of his engagement. If the marriage had gone wrong, the nice carpet, made with skill and effort by the Sarulian craftswomen, would have been divided in half.
