Silanus Marghine

Churches of Silanus

The ancient origins of the village of Silanus can be traced in its historically relevant churches. On the immediate outskirts of the residental area there is the delightful and very old Romanesque Church of Saint Lawrence, built in 1150 in the former Sjlano (the current outskirts of the village) as a dependency of a Benedictine abbey. The interior walls contain 14th-century frescoes. Behind the church there are some bethyls found in the sa Pedra Longa tomb of giants and the Corbos nuraghe. The Gothic-Catalan Church of Magdalene dates back to 1582 and the two charming churches of Nostra Signora of Itria and the Church of the Santa Croce to the 17th century.
