Church of Su Remediu

The Chiesa de Su Remediu, or Chiesa di Nostra signora del rimedio, contains a very interesting history. It is a 15th or 16th century church that has undergone renovations over time. The church was inhabited by friars and their job was to redeem Muslim slaves and treat people like it was a kind of hospital. This church represented the defence and anti-Muslim struggle during the Saracen incursions, which is why there are two statues inside, one of the Virgin of Defensa, for the defence against Muslim attacks, and the other of the Redeemer, or liberation from the Muslims.
