Cala Gonone Aquarium

This modern facility was opened in 2010 and is home to a rich variety of marine species, not only from the Mediterranean but also from tropical seas. It consists of 40 tanks, 25 of which are exhibition tanks. One of the most popular tank for children and adults is the tactile tank: stingrays, starfish and dogfish can be touched by visitors, providing a unique experience that respects the species. The open sea tank hosts large fish, including the dogfish shark. Outside the building there is a park consisting of typical Mediterranean vegetation, where you can meet one of the Aquarium's protagonists: Rosa Fumetta, the fox. She is the ambassador for the victims of the forest fires, as she was rescued from a huge fire by the workers of the Forestry Centre, but as she suffered serious damage, it was not possible to reintroduce her into her natural habitat.
