Bolotana Marghine

Badde Sàlighes and Ortachis forests

Inside the acres of Bolotana there are Badde Sàlighes and Ortachis forest, two natural spots of priceless natural value. The name Badde Sàlighes in Sardinian means the valley of willows and this impressive shrub is actually one of the many varieties of plants populating the forest although today the number of samples has shrinked. However it is deep rich with other species such as yews, hollies and maples. Especially, visitors come here to admire the most ancient yew in Sardinia believed to have more than 1200 years. The native species within the Badde Salighes Park coexist with the exotic ones. For its charm and beauty the forest is one of the favourite destinations for walking and hosts the elegant Villa Piercy a gorgeous English style historic residence built between 1879 and 1882. Furthermore the forest hosts the Environmental education centre of the Marghine Municipalities. In Ortachis one of the main landspot is certainly the Mularza Noa waterfall. About 6 metres height, the waterfall is fed by the Riu Biralotta creek whose source is in the nearbys of the Nuraghe Ortachis.
